Therapeutic Mentoring Sessions with Kaylin Meier

A therapeutic offering supporting emotional wellness through meaningful connection and the healing power of nature.

Kaylin is a writer, animal and nature-lover, registered yoga instructor, and a spirited therapist in training. She is currently completing her master's degree in social work at East Tennessee State University. Her dream is to work with clients of all ages and backgrounds integrating mindfulness and somatic practices, like yoga, and nature-based interventions, sandtray and play-based therapies.

“I have always had a passion for mental health and building an understanding of oneself. I believe awareness is the catalyst for change. I strive to create an open, safe, nonjudgmental space for clients to explore their feelings, thoughts, values, and passions. By blending somatic mindfulness, and expressive play with the grounding presence of nature, I offer a collaborative space where clients can explore their inner landscape and connect with their authentic self.”

Therapeutic mentoring sessions with Kaylin focus specifically on supporting clients in the following areas: development of emotional resilience, strengthen emotional literacy and capacity for emotional regulation, healthy expression of emotion, teach and practice compassionate communication skills and conflict transformation.

Sessions with Kaylin take place at Fauna Forest Farm in Jonesborough, TN for those located in and around the Tri-Cities.

Animal-Assisted

Fauna Forest Farm seeks to provide meaningful relationship and interaction with animals. For many individuals, relationship with humans holds a history of harm (bullying, abandonment, neglect, etc.). Interactions with animals hold the potential to support individuals in restoring safe relationship with loving creatures who provide experiences of meaningful, healing connection.

Therapeutic Sandtray

Therapeutic sandtray utilizes sand— a sensory-rich medium to support individuals’ with emotional, social, mental, and relational regulation. By providing a safe and accepting space, individuals are encouraged to express feelings and tell their story through figurines, natural objects, and sand play. This supports cultivation of self-awareness and serves as a tool to process life experiences and emotions in a healthy way.

Nature Based Therapeutic Experiences

Kaylin’s work with clients integrates nature-based therapeutic experiences. Nature-based therapeutics support nervous system regulation, reduce stress, and support individuals in deepening their felt sense of connection through meaningful relationship with the living world.

"Around me the trees stir in their leaves and call out, ”Stay awhile.” The light flows from their branches. And they call again, ”It's simple,” they say, ”and you too have come into the world to do this, to go easy, to be filled with light, and to shine.”
