Farm With Us

ABOUT FAUNA FOREST FARM: We are a 33 acre farm located in a beautiful rural area of Jonesborough, TN. We focus on regenerative farming practices and are developing a complex silvopasture of fruit and nut tree overstory with grazing ruminants and foraging monogastrics in the understory. We are still in the early stages of development (just started year 3) and currently have a small herd of cows, a small flock of chickens, some veggie gardens, sugar maple trees, and grafted fruit trees. We will be planting a hazelnut orchard this fall as our first serious tree crop enterprise. Equally important to us as growing food is creating a place of sanctuary for our local community. Fauna Forest Farm serves as a farm school for children from September to May, hosts educational workshops such as mushroom log cultivation and fruit tree grafting, and provides a space for nature-based therapeutic experiences. For us, the farm is a place for both ecological and cultural vitality.

Interested in growing with us?

We are seeking partnership with organic farmers.

We are looking for:

  • 1. On-Site Farmer Steward

We are looking for someone to be a caretaker of the garden and animals. This role is flexible, but would ideally include supporting rotational grazing of cattle, ensuring animals have food and water, minimal maintenance of the chicken’s perimeter fence, watering and weeding our small veggie garden areas, helping with new plantings, installing row cover as needed, etc.

*Priority for this role goes to someone who can be living on site. This could look like parking an rv on site at the farm, for those who already have a living space like this. Another on-site housing option is available for those who do not. Please inquire for more details.

  • 2. Organic Farmer Entrepreneur

We have a community of families who come to the farm Monday through Thursday every week with shared values of supporting local farmers. We have many requests from families about where to buy local eggs/ vegetables/ milk/ meat. We do not currently grow at this capacity so as to be able to provide a CSA for our 55+ families at the farm, but are committed to partnering with a farmer in developing their own business/CSA on the farm. This could involve veggies, poultry, small scale livestock, etc. We envision sharing the land as well as our resources/ tools/ equipment to support someone who is a fit for this partnership.

  • Additional Notes

Ideally these two roles listed here (#1 and #2) would be combined as one, if possible, but we are open to defining the role based on unique needs and passions of those interested in working together. Our preference would also be that a farm partner live on site, if possible. There is also opportunity to work with children in our farm school program sharing farming skills with youth for those interested and with a background suited for this.

*Housing for farmers now available.

For both roles listed above, there are limited housing options now available. There is also a possibility of work-trade for housing for those interested. Please reach out to us for more details at: faunaforestfarm@gmail.com.
