Meet the Guides
Emily Sikora Katt
As a professional communicator and teacher, Emily Katt has worked for over 15 years in multiple educational realms (from preschool to college classrooms, traditional teaching formats to Montessori and homeschool programs). She is a former editor for the regional lifestyles publication Marquee Magazine and an award-winning fiction and nonfiction writer who in 2022 completed a Master of Arts degree in Communication and Storytelling Studies at East Tennessee State University. A current Jonesborough Storytellers Guild member, Ms. Katt performs traditional ballads, folktales, and original stories, as well as works in youth outreach and programming with the International Storytelling Center.
Jess Chittum
Jess is a dedicated and hands-on professional with a passion for practical, skill-based work. With experience in homeschooling and working with children, Jess values patience, adaptability, and clear communication in every task.
A strong interest in organic gardening, beekeeping, and chicken care has given Jess a deep appreciation for sustainable practices and working closely with nature. Whether tending to plants, caring for animals, or supporting the growth and development of youth, Jess enjoys bringing a thoughtful and detail-oriented approach to her work.
Outside of work, Jess enjoys crafting, hiking, biking, cooking, and spending time with family. Always curious and engaged, she finds joy in both creative and outdoor pursuits, making the most of each day with a hands-on and active lifestyle.
